Here are some things that I'm up to my neck in right now:
Climate Action: Think locally, and get involved in
climate activism in your community. The Boston Climate
Action Network is a local initative to address thelooming catastrophe of global warming. We must
convince our leaders that this is an emergency, that
requires drastic measures. We must also look into our
own habits, and resolve to reduce our own carbon
footprints. We work on forming neighborhood Low Carbon
Diet groups, to improve the energy efficiency of our
homes, transportation habits, workplaces.
El Salvador Sister Cities: since 1991 I've been
travelling to El Salvador, visiting villages, working
on various development projects in these refugee
repopulations. I travel twice a year, and take groups
of travellers with me (see the Central America Travel
page on this website). I'm also enormously impressed
with the work that US El Salvador Sister Cities does
to fight against globalization, free trade agreements,
and gold mining in Chalatenango.
I am heavily involved in organizing concerts for the
Watertown-El Salvador Sister City Committee.
See the Tremedal Concert Calendar.
I also work closely with Arlington-Teosinte Sister
City Committee, organizing events and selling
wonderful crafts from this village.
My principal sponsor for these El Salvador
initiatives, is the amazing St. Andrew Christian
Church, in Olathe, Kansas.
Community Church of Boston: I currently serve as
President of the Board of my Church, Community Church
of Boston. I am particularly
interested in the music, and in nurturing our old
funky building, located in Copley Square. We have
recently joined the Massachusetts Interfaith Power and
Light, and are working to be as
green a building as we can afford to be.
